Simone Anderson

Simone Anderson’s (’91) career in Recruitment and her involvement in Loreto Federation 2020 as President

For our September Old Scholar story, LOSA would like to highlight Federation 2020 President, Simone Anderson (’91). Not only does Simone share with us her favourite part about working in Recruitment, but with the Federation Conference just over a year away, she provides us with an overview of Federation and how you can get involved.

Simone in her own words:

“My life at Loreto started in ’79, joining my older sisters, Nicole (’86) and Melissa (’88).  I remember my first day, I cried, and my last day, I cried.  What I now know, having no appreciation at the time, is how truly blessed I am that my parents chose Loreto as my school; the friendships and the community are stand-out benefits to my time at Loreto.

Life since leaving Loreto has been quite the ride.  A short stint in Darwin, a long stint in London and a career in recruitment followed.  I have worked for Hays Specialist Recruitment for close to 20 years, my most favourite part of my role is listening to stories. People’s stories are fascinating and never cease to amaze me. No two days are the same, no two phone calls or interviews are the same; it is a privilege to be trusted with supporting an individual through change and it is a great day when the stars align and they get the job they want and deserve.

I am incredibly fortunate to have three beautiful children with my husband, Nick. We have two girls at Loreto, Hallie in year 8 and Eugenie in year 3. Our son, Ren, is in year 6 at Saint Peters’ College. While the school has evolved and continues to evolve, the warmth and sense of community remains.

It is a great privilege to be involved with Federation 2020, with a fantastic group of dedicated, intelligent and enthusiastic Old Scholars.  Federation, a coming together of all Loreto schools across Australia, will be held at Marryatville in October 2020.  Our theme is simply ‘inspire’, and that is exactly what we intend to do. We are working incredibly hard on a three day program to highlight the inspiring connections from within the Loreto community and raise your awareness around thought provoking and socially conscious topics.  We look forward to sharing further developments and of course enjoying your company across the weekend.  If you would like further details or would like to be involved, please get in touch via email loretofederation2020@gmail.com
